Aluminum recycling in Kansas City
Answer these in order. The first one that fits is your grade.
Aluminum with 5% steel or less still sorts as old sheet. Cross that line, or bring a steel-heavy piece like a transmission, and it becomes breakage.
Not all aluminum pays the same. The cleaner it is and the less non-aluminum material attached, the higher the grade.
| Material | What it is | Under 100lbs | Over 100lbs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminum Cast (Clean) | Thicker molded parts: engine blocks, transmission cases with steel removed, wheels and rims, motor housings, gearbox covers, cookware. Quick check: Thick and molded. | $0.90/lb | $0.94/lb |
| Aluminum Painted Siding | Painted aluminum sheet and guttering. Paint does not hurt the value much. Quick check: Painted sheet. | $0.85/lb | $0.89/lb |
| 10/10 Extrusion | Long, shaped pieces, mostly window and door frames. Drops to another category if too thick or bulky to bale. Quick check: Long shaped frames. | $1.15/lb | $1.20/lb |
| Aluminum Radiators (Clean) | Aluminum core with the steel end tanks cut off. Quick check: Steel ends cut off. | $0.73/lb | $0.77/lb |
| Aluminum Radiators (Dirty) | Steel end tanks still attached. Cutting them off is optional, but clean pays more. Quick check: Steel ends on. | $0.45/lb | $0.48/lb |

Aluminum is light, never sticks to a magnet, and does not rust. It gets a dull, chalky-white coating instead. That is why it is in window frames, cans, car parts, and appliances. There are dozens of alloys, so we sort by the categories that cover almost everything customers bring in.
